NSA members invited to Annual General Meeting and exclusive Moredun tour

14th July 2026

The National Sheep Association (NSA) is inviting members to attend its 133rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place on Tuesday 11th August 2026 at The Moredun Foundation, Pentland Science Park, Midlothian.

The AGM provides members with the opportunity to hear about the Association's work over the past year, have their say on the future direction of NSA and meet fellow sheep producers from across the UK. Alongside the formal business of the AGM, attendees will also enjoy a rare behind-the-scenes tour of one of the world's leading centres for livestock health research.

Tea and coffee will be available on arrival before the AGM begins at 11.30am, followed by a buffet lunch and an exclusive guided tour of Moredun's research facilities.

Hosted by Dr Thomas Tzelos, Deputy Head of Bio-Services, the tour will take visitors around the research farm, including the post-mortem suite and surgery, while providing an insight into current research projects helping to improve the health and welfare of livestock.

Originally established by farmers for farmers, Moredun has become internationally recognised for its work in preventing and controlling infectious livestock diseases. Its research has led to the development of vaccines, improved diagnostic tests such as those used for bluetongue and practical disease management strategies that continue to benefit farmers both in the UK and around the world. In partnership with SRUC, Moredun also plays a vital role in monitoring and identifying emerging livestock diseases.

NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker says: "The NSA AGM is an important opportunity for members to come together, hear about the extensive work NSA has undertaken on their behalf over the past year and help shape the Association's future priorities.

"We're delighted to be hosting this year's AGM at The Moredun Foundation. Animal health remains one of the biggest priorities for the UK sheep sector and the opportunity to see first-hand the research taking place at Moredun promises to be both informative and highly relevant to sheep farmers."

Attendance at the AGM and tour is free, but booking is essential. Members wishing to attend can register online via the NSA website, where the AGM agenda, proxy voting information and supporting documents are also available.
