NSA AGM 2026

NSA’s 133rd AGM took place on Tuesday (11th August) at Moredun Research Institute in Scotland and had fantastic attendance. 

Following the formal business, members heard from Moredun scientists about vaccine development alongside the latest research into parasite management. The talks provided a valuable insight into the vital work Moredun undertakes to improve sheep health. 

Attendees then toured the research farm, seeing first-hand how animal selection and high health and welfare standards underpin this work, enabling closely monitored vaccine research and studies into many projects. 

The meeting saw Phil Stocker presented with the Royal Smithfield Bicentenary Trophy. The trophy is awarded each year to a person or organisation that has made a significant contribution to the UK meat industry

Phil Stocker says: “It was a pleasure to be in Scotland for our AGM this year and we were pleased to welcome a good number of members and some non-members too. Thank you to Moredun and the team who are always so welcoming. We appreciate the time taken out of busy schedules to ensure our visit was really interesting – it was a privilege to gain an insight into current work and see the farm where much of it takes place. We hope everyone enjoyed the day.

“On another note, I was so proud to be awarded the Royal Smithfield Club Bicentenary Trophy. This was a total surprise and it’s not often I am rendered speechless! Thank you to Ian Duncan-Miller for sorting this and also to Richard Saunders for travelling to our AGM to present it to me. I hope I can use this prestigious award and also the MBE I was awarded this year to further promote the brilliant work we do here at NSA on behalf of all sheep farmers.”
