RoSA Code of Professional Ethics
As the body responsible for maintaining the Register of Sheep Advisers (RoSA), NSA sets high standards of admission to the register and requires all members to respect and observe the standards and behaviour set out below. These standards are designed to ensure the highest standards of conduct from advisers and other professionals who are NSA-RoSA members.
Breaches of this RoSA code may lead to disciplinary action, as from, time to time updated and made available to members. Sanctions for non-compliance include suspension or termination of NSA-RoSA membership.
- Members must ensure they always act in a way that supports and upholds the reputation and values of the sheep and allied industries.
- Members must ensure the advice they give, and any product or service they provide, is in accordance with applicable legislation. In particular they must:
- Have due regard to the environmental impact of that advice and those products or services.
- Prioritise the health and safety of those that buy and/or use those products or services.
- Keep records of all recommendations and advice given for at least 36 months.
- Members must respect and maintain the confidentiality of customer, client and (if applicable) employer information and comply with applicable data protection legislation.
- Members must actively maintain awareness of progress and knowledge in the sphere of activity relevant to their registration and fulfil the continuous professional development (CPD) requirements applicable to their membership.
- Members must ensure there is adequate professional indemnity insurance (or equivalent provision) in place in respect of the advice and services they provide.
- Members must publicise their services with integrity and not create an invidious distinction between themselves and other members.
- Members are expected to co-operate with professional colleagues so that customers/clients, the public and the environment may benefit, and the reputation of the industry be maintained.
- Members must carry out their work in a timely manner and with proper regard for the technical and professional standards expected of them. Members must not undertake work that they are not competent to perform.
