Sheep farmers encouraged to make the most of trusted NSA Ram Sales

15th July 2026

The National Sheep Association (NSA) is encouraging sheep farmers across the UK to consider buying or selling through trusted NSA Ram Sales this season, offering access to high-quality breeding stock and reliable marketing opportunities.

Recognised throughout the industry as leading multi-breed sales, NSA Ram Sales provide buyers with the reassurance that every ram has undergone an individual health and quality inspection before entering the sale ring.

Bringing together a wide range of breeds and vendors from across the UK, NSA Ram Sales offer breeding stock suited to a variety of production systems and market specifications. Some sheep are also sold as part of official breed society sales, with additional catalogue information available to buyers.

Held across multiple locations in England and Wales, all stock is sold under the auctioneers' terms and conditions of sale, with additional support provided by NSA where required.

Despite the challenges presented by bluetongue restrictions, NSA successfully hosted seven ram sales across England and Wales in 2025, generating more than £3 million in sales and reinvesting significant value back into the sheep industry. With a long-standing reputation for offering high-quality breeding stock, NSA Ram Sales continue to attract buyers seeking trusted genetics and confidence in their purchasing decisions.

Selling through NSA Ram Sales is just one of the many benefits of NSA membership. Beyond providing trusted marketing opportunities, NSA champions the interests of the UK sheep sector, ensuring the voices of sheep farmers are represented in discussions with governments and policymakers. The association promotes practical, common-sense solutions to the challenges facing the industry while highlighting the vital role sheep farming plays in supporting the UK economy, environment and rural communities.

Alongside its policy work, NSA provides members with trusted technical information, educational events and practical services designed to help sheep farming businesses remain productive, resilient and profitable.

NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker says: "NSA Ram Sales are about much more than buying and selling sheep. They bring together dedicated breeders who have invested in producing quality stock with farmers looking to invest in the future performance of their own flocks. By providing a trusted marketplace built on quality and confidence, these sales support profitable farm businesses and help strengthen the long-term future of the UK sheep industry."
