NSA Northern Region meeting to honour the Region’s outstanding members
2nd February 2026
Members and non-members of the sheep farming community are invited to attend the National Sheep Association (NSA) Northern Annual Regional Members’ Meeting (ARMM), taking place on Thursday 5th February, 7pm, at Hexham and Northern Marts.
The informal and friendly evening will provide attendees with the latest updates from NSA, alongside regional insights and developments relevant to northern England sheep farmers.
The meeting will feature a national update from Michael Priestley, NSA Policy Manager, who will outline current NSA priorities and ongoing work on behalf of the sector, including the consultation on proposed changes to castration and tail docking methods. This will be followed by regional updates from NSA Northern Region committee members, highlighting key issues and activities across the region.
Nicola Noble NSA Project Manager, will also present an update on the Grazing for Good project, following the recent initial workshop that explored current grazing regimes across the Lake District.
Commenting ahead of the event, Chris Adamson NSA Northern Region Manager, says: “Our annual members’ meeting is always a great opportunity to bring people together, share updates from across NSA and hear directly from local farmers. Whether you’re an NSA member or new to what we do, I’d like to encourage everyone to come along, join the discussion and help shape the work we do on behalf of the northern sheep sector.”
The evening will also include the announcement of three NSA Northern Region Annual Awards, celebrating and honouring outstanding contributions to sheep farming. Firstly, the Geoff Lawn Memorial Award, which is given in recognition of a young sheep farmer residing in the NSA Northern Region, the T I Allinson Award, presented for lifetime achievement within the sheep farming industry and the newly introduced Helm Shield, honouring a woman who has made a positive difference to the northern sheep farming industry and wider community, particularly through leadership in social justice and environmental sustainability.
NSA Northern Region looks forward to welcoming members and non-members alike to this informative and sociable event. For more information on the event, please click here.
