NSA Northern Ireland welcomes new Regional Coordinator

25th September 2024

The National Sheep Association (NSA) is pleased to welcome a new face to lead activity in Northern Ireland.

Ellen Moorehead, takes on the new role of NSA Northern Ireland Regional Coordinator following the stepping down of Edward Adamson as Regional Development Officer who will now take a well-earned retirement having represented the NSA region for many years.

In her new role Ellen, from Castlewellan, Co. Down, will coordinate NSA policy work in Northern Ireland, manage its NSA members, and lead organisation of the NSA Sheep Northern Ireland event that will return in summer 2025.

Ellen’s farming background and previous experience, most recently working as an Agri Tech Manager focusing on advancing agricultural technologies and sustainable farming practices make Ellen well placed to take on the NSA activity.

Ellen comments: “I am excited and honoured to step into the role of NSA Northern Ireland Regional Coordinator, following in the footsteps of Edward Adamson, who has dedicated so many years to serving the sheep farming community here. Edward’s extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication have been invaluable to NSA and to sheep farmers across Northern Ireland. I am very aware of the large shoes I have to fill, but I am equally excited for the challenge.

“I hope to build on the strong foundation Edward has laid. His legacy of commitment to the sector is one I deeply respect, and I look forward to carrying forward the work he has done while bringing my own perspective to the role.”

Over the coming months Ellen will meet with farmers and stakeholders, listen to their concerns and ideas, and ensure NSA continues to provide valuable support to the industry in Northern Ireland.

Ellen continues: “I am committed to supporting the sheep farming community here by supporting industry advancements and fostering collaboration among farmers, industry leaders, and policymakers working together to build an even brighter future for sheep farming in Northern Ireland.”

NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker says: “All at NSA are incredibly grateful to Edward Adamson for his service to NSA over so many years – there could not have been a greater advocate for our Association in Northern Ireland and further afield. We wish him a well deserved happy retirement.

“But as we acknowledge all that Edward has done for NSA we must now look to a new exciting future for the Association in Northern Ireland under the coordination of Ellen. We welcome Ellen to NSA and are very much looking forward to working alongside her.”
