
Midfearn Farm prepares to welcome NSA Highland Sheep 2025

With just one week to go, the countdown is on for NSA Highland Sheep 2025, taking place on Wednesday 11th June at Midfearn Farm near Ardgay, by kind permission of the Brooke family.
Organised by the National Sheep Association (NSA), this highly anticipated event will welcome farmers, crofters, students and agricultural professionals from across the Highlands, Islands and wider UK. With its location overlooking the Dornoch Firth and nestled in one of Scotland’s most progressive livestock farms, NSA Highland Sheep 2025 is set to deliver an unmissable showcase of innovation, tradition and practical insight.
From the latest in sheep health and genetics to hands-on rural skills, market insights and educational outreach, the event brings together all corners of the industry for a full day of activity.
Event highlights include:
- Invitational sheepdog trials – 34 top handlers from across northern Scotland, including past Scottish national champions.
- SAYFC national sheep dog final – the national final for young handlers.
- Speed shear competition – world-class shearers, including past world champion.
- Farm Tours – Midfearn’s sheep and cattle systems and Watson Seeds’ sward trial plots.
- Seminars and workshops – expert-led sessions covering a wide range of agricultural topics.
- Show & sale of sixteen pairs of ewe hoggs – judging from 9:00am, sale by Dingwall & Highland Marts at 4:00pm.
- Farm-to-fork demonstrations – cookery and butchery using Midfearn Blackface lamb.
- Traditional demonstrations – crook making, sheep dressing, bolusing, woolcrafts.
- Over 100 sheep breed & trade exhibitors – featuring the latest in agri-tech, genetics and nutrition.
- Craft & food market stands – 16 local producers and artisans.
- Live music – Gizzen Briggs school band from noon to 3:00pm in the VIP area.
Inspiring the Next Generation
NSA Highland Sheep 2025 will also welcome pupils from schools across Easter Ross & Sutherland for an immersive rural education experience, with hands-on learning in livestock care, food production and land management.
