Final countdown to sheep farming showcase
5th July 2024
The showcase event of the National Sheep Association (NSA), NSA Sheep Event, returns later this month providing an ideal day out for anyone involved in the UK sheep industry.
Opening its gates on Tuesday 30th July 2024 at its usual home of the Three Counties Showground, Worcestershire, the business to business event will feature its usual impressive array of seminars featuring top industry names, interactive workshops passing on useful practical shepherding advice, more than 250 trade and breed society stands, demonstrations, competitions, and more.
And for the first time in several years the event takes place during school summer holidays so will also include additional attractions such as children’s competitions and mini tractor school to keep everyone in the family entertained, no matter their age.
Warwickshire sheep farmer and Chair of the 2024 event Ant Spencer comments: “There is no better show to demonstrate and celebrate all that is great about the British sheep industry. It really is a great opportunity to have a day off the farm to get up to date with the latest news and innovations, and even better catch up with farming friends.”
The event seminar tent will no doubt be home to much insightful discussion as its speakers prepare to cover topical issues such as business reform and market and trade opportunities. The seminar line up also features the launch of the highly anticipated NSA Sustainability Report, produced in conjunction with Harper Adams.
A seminar not to be missed will surely be the first ever NSA Breakfast Club ‘Live’, a live streamed discussion that will be one of the first opportunities since the General Election to hear from key political party representatives on their plans for future agricultural policy. As it is anticipated the Breakfast Club will be very popular, visitors are invited to register in advance of the event to secure their seat in the session. Those registering before the event at www.sheepevent.org.uk/attractions/seminars will also be provided with a breakfast roll.
Those wishing to make more of a visit to the event can also sign up to join the pre event farm tours taking place on Monday 29th July, in conjunction with Field Farm Tours.
The tour will visit two different farming operations in the neighbouring county to the event, Herefordshire, allowing visitors to view a progressive enterprise working on regenerative principles with its flock of Romney cross ewes and a pedigree Hereford cattle herd and a mixed farming operation switching to wool shedding sheep that promotes efficient data recording for improved flock performance.
Other features not to be missed at NSA Sheep Event 2024 include the ever popular cookery theatre, shearing competitions, sheepdog demonstrations and sale, and industry partner demonstrations from British Wool, Moredun and the Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS) group.
