10th May 2012 LFA Report launched by NSA The National Sheep Association yesterday (Wednesday 9th) launched a new report that looks at the many public benefits of sheep farming in upland and marginal areas – ‘The Complementary Role of Sheep in Less Favoured Areas’ The report draws on the support of many other organisations with environmental and agricultural interests (listed below) who agree that traditional sheep farming practices can bring a host of environmental, social, and economic benefits. 4th May 2012 Prestigious Butchery Awards at NSA Sheep 2012 Two prestigious butchery awards will be made at NSA Sheep 2012, the industry’s biennial event to be staged by the National Sheep Association at the Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern on Wednesday 4 July. Called the Best Farm Shop Award and the Best English Farm Shop Award, the initiatives have been designed by the NSA working with EBLEX to test the skills of farm shop owners selling lamb, together with those of their managers or butchers. 4th May 2012 ADAS Fallen Stock Questionnaire Before 2003 the majority of fallen stock was buried, but after the introduction of the Animal By-Product Regulations farmers are unable to use burial as a means to dispose of fallen stock. Farmers have to use one of the three options below to dispose of fallen stock. Read More
