Opportunities in NSA Central, Eastern and Scottish Regions

21st September 2022

Could you fill current vacancies in the NSA regional network?

The nine regions of the National Sheep Association (NSA) are integral to the organisation’s success, feeding the views and needs of grassroots farmers into all areas of work and providing forums and events for NSA members to share experiences, air opinions and gain information.

NSA Central Region and NSA Eastern Region are looking for new people to take on paid-for administrative roles.

NSA Central Region is looking for a new manager to organise and coordinate its presence in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Staffordshire.

NSA Eastern Region is looking for a new manager to organise and coordinate its presence in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Northampton and Suffolk. More below.

The two regional manager positions will suit self-motivated individuals ready to make the roles their own and work with small and friendly teams of regional sheep farming committee members to drive the profile and activity of NSA. The roles will suit anyone with good organisation skills and an interest in promoting the interests of the sheep sector. Each regional manager will be paid an annual honorarium of £1,800 plus expenses.

The regional managers will:-

  • Organise and take minutes at four committee meetings annually, to include an Annual Regional Members’ Meeting. Work with the regional chairman to determine agenda items and take forward agreed actions.
  • Organise activities agreed by the regional committee, such as farm walks, evening meetings and social events.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of a biennial NSA Next Generation Shepherd Competition (a regional qualifier for the national final).
  • With support from NSA Head Office, provide information for regional members via various NSA communication routes and ensure the region runs effectively and to budget.
  • Attend meetings (usually online but sometimes at NSA Head Office) to meet with and share ideas with other regional managers and NSA staff members.
  • For NSA Eastern Region only, work with NSA Head office to ensure the successful delivery of two NSA Eastern Region ram sales – full training will be provided.

An induction will be provided by NSA Head Office, with ongoing support available. To apply for either the NSA Eastern Region or NSA Central Region role, please send you CV and covering letter to Joanne Briggs, NSA Operations Director, by Tuesday 18th October.
