NSA Chairman starts New Year with the next generation of sheep farmers

2nd January 2013

John Geldard, NSA Chairman and Cumbria farmer, spend New Year’s Day judging almost 30 entries in the North West Auction’s annual Young Handlers Show and Sale.

John spent a good deal of time talking to the Young Handlers and encouraging them in their efforts. He then backed his judgement by purchasing his champion pick on behalf of Plumgarths Farm Shop, Kendal. This was a Texel Lamb from Bradley Thompson (pictured), which was purchased by the judge for £200.

Trade for the Young Handlers sheep was very strong for a quality entry of well finished lambs. There was an excellent atmosphere throughout the market all day giving a very positive feel to the start of the year.
