NSA South East Region ARMM report

The NSA South East Region Annual Members’ Meeting (ARMM) took place at The Angel Hotel, Privett, Hampshire.
Formal business proceedings saw no changes to regional office holders, after which the meeting welcomed Committee member Phil Hart for an insightful talk on the world of hedge laying. Phil spoke about the benefits of hedge laying for landowners, livestock and wildlife, the different styles that have been developed as a result of local landscapes, farming systems in operation and local resources and the different techniques involved in hedge laying. There was also an opportunity to have a look at some of the tools used, and a catalogue of photographs.

Phil is also the Chair of the South East Hedgelaying Society, which is celebrating 40 years this year and is a Training Officer for the National Hedgelaying Society.

Andrea Calvesbert, NSA Assistant to the Chief Executive, provided an update on NSA activities and policy work afterwards, and comments: “It was great to hear what a busy year NSA South East Region had in 2024, with so much activity going on, and to hear some of their plans for the year ahead. Running events is very much a team effort and It was lovely to hear how well the office holders are supported by the committee and the wider membership in the region.”
