NSA Sheep Event dinner

Held on the evening of Monday 27th July at Three Counties Showground, the home of NSA Sheep Event, the sheep industry came together for an evening of celebration, recognition and reflection on the achievements of the sector since the 2024 event.

The dinner recognised the recent winner of the NSA George Hedley Memorial Award, Edward Adamson, who was honoured for his outstanding individual contribution to the UK sheep sector.

The evening also provided an opportunity to posthumously recognise Euan Emslie as an unsung hero of NSA through the NSA Bob Payne Memorial Award. Euan’s sister, Aileen, accepted the award on his behalf.

The hard work and dedication of Jane Smith was also celebrated, with Jane recognised for her remarkable contribution to the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales over the past 30 years.

Finally, Rollo Deutsch took to the stage to receive a gift and celebrate his recent achievement as a recipient of the NSA Samuel Wharry Memorial Award. Presented as a bursary, the award enables two young sheep farmers from the UK to travel overseas and explore the application of science in sheep production. Fellow recipient Richard Oglesby was unable to attend the dinner, though both were recognised as the pair had recently travelled to Australia and New Zealand, describing the experience as an incredible learning opportunity.

The dinner was a perfect celebration of some outstanding individuals who have contributed to the UK sheep sector and to NSA. It also provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past two years, before looking ahead to the main event on Tuesday (28th July).
