NSA Northern Region and Great Yorkshire Show Shepherd of the future competition

Competitors and visitors from across NSA Northern Region joined crowds during the four-day event at the Harrogate Showground.

It was a special show for the second successive year for teenager Rosie Garth from Bentham, who was named Great Yorkshire Show and NSA Shepherd of the Future 2026, following being crowned the Show's champion sheep young handler in 2025.

Rosie, whose family has a long tradition of exhibiting at the Show, turned out in the sheep ring with a Beltex gimmer lamb for the final sheep handling round of judging, following a questionnaire and stock judging.

Chris Adamson, NSA Northern Region Manager says: “Well done to all our competitors who showed great skill in the very hot show ring! It was brilliant to hold this second annual competition at Great Yorkshire Show. The standard of competitors was outstanding, growing in popularity from the first year. Women in agriculture was on show, with a great number of female competitors and Rosie taking the title of champion.”
