NSA shearing workshop, South East
Date: 2nd October 2025
Time: 10.30 am - 2 pm
Location: The Grey Sheep Company, Hook, Hampshire
Yesterday (2nd October), budding sheep farmers gathered at The Grey Sheep Company, Hampshire for an Introduction to Shearing Workshop, hosted by Susie Parish with thanks to Neil and Emma Boyles.
The interactive day covered everything from why we shear and biosecurity basics, to wool grading and a practical, step-by-step shearing demonstration. Attendees also toured the on-site processing facility, gaining unique insight into how fleece becomes yarn.
NSA Next Generation Event Organiser Anna Wilson says: “This is a purely wool producing farm and shows that there is great value in wool. It was fascinating to be shown around, with Susie explaining how each machine works. The factory is a scaled down version of a commercial set up, so attendees could see the full process of producing stunning yarns that are sold worldwide."
