NSA Marches Region enjoys insightful and educational farm walk
More than 60 NSA members, friends and neighbours joined an NSA Marches Region farm walk this week, kindly hosted by Tom Garlick and his family at their farm near Pontrilas, Hereford.
Tom, who will be competing in the national finals of the NSA Next Generation Shepherd competition at this month’s NSA Sheep Event gave visitors an insight into the farming operation that includes a 1600 ewe flock of predominantly Texel cross mule ewes and also finishes in the region of 2500/3000 store lambs each year.
Attendees also benefited by being joined by Nick Gibbon of Belmont Farm and Equine vets who explained how the vets work closely with the farm and also covered some topical issues facing sheep farmers from the region currently.
The evening was finished off with a delicious BBQ kindly cooked by the Dunn and Vines family members.
