Central Region Farm Walk
Date: 8th June 2025
Time: 2pm
Location: Cowley Hill Farm, Hamstall Ridware, Rugeley, WS15 3QE
Join NSA Central Region on Sunday 8th June 2025 for a walk around Cowley Hill Farm, followed by tea, coffee and cake.
The farm is owned by current NSA member and NSA Next Generation Ambassador Will Roobottom.
Will has a flock of Pedigree Lleyn sheep, a successful YouTube channel, and has been nominated for awards such as the British Farming Awards 2021 where he walked away with the silver award for Digital Innovator of the Year.
Will says, "Over the last 10 years we have grown our Lleyn flock to integrate with our equine forage business where we produce hay and haylage. Starting out with pedigree Lleyns and sharing the journey through the YouTube channel (Cowely Hill Farm) we have grown to around 300 ewes. We are always looking for ways to improve and tweak our system, recently splitting out our elite ewes to breed pedigree and the rest going to either an Aberblack or NZ Suffolk.
"Over the last few years, we have been making changes to improve performance and make the processing of our sheep easier. Recently, we have been learning and implementing a rotational grazing system to reduce our concentrate usage. this year we have invested in a Te pari handler to help improve the handling, dosing, weighing on a more individual basis for the sheep. We are currently investigating new systems for lambing, and working out how we will to move outdoors to help reduce costs."
Refreshments for this event are kindly sponsored by TFM Superstore.
