NSA South West Region Annual Members Meeting
Date: 18th February 2016
Time: 7.30pm
Location: The Stockmans Restaurant, Exeter Market, Matford Business Park, Exeter, EX2 8FD
Having taken on the role of NSA English Committee Chairman just two days previous to the NSA South West Regions Annual Members Meeting on Thursday (18th February 2016), it was probably with some relief that Bryan Griffiths passed on the reins of regional Chairman. With a successful two-year stint under his belt, Bryan (pictured on the right) was succeeded by Alan Derryman as Chairman (pictured on the left) and John Garthwaite as Vice Chairman.
With Bryan taking on the chairman role, Alan and John will represent NSA South West Region on the English Committee, with Philip Derryman making up the required trio. The meeting was followed by an excellent presentation by Craig Hickson of Beef and Lamb New Zealand.
Joanne Briggs, NSA Communications Manager, reports: “Craig gave a very robust defence of the role of New Zealand in the UK marketplace and urged a more joined up approach from New Zealand and UK rather than an antagonistic one. His argument that the figures showing an increased New Zealand offering in 2015 were skewed by mutton sales into UK food service might not have sat well with everyone, but he certainly provided plenty of food for thought in painting a future where the we worked together to lamb consumption in general, regardless of its country of origin.”
