NSA Northern Region - Diversification within your industry

NSA Northern Region invites members and others to join an interesting day providing insights on diversification options to make the most of your sheep farming business.
Taking place on Friday 8th September at J36 Rural Auction Centre, Crooklands, Milnthorpe, Cumbria, LA7 7FP, during the industry’s annual week long celebration, Love Lamb Week, the day will consist of discussions on diversifying on your farm and how you can add value to your business and take advantage of other income streams.
Hosted by the Region, alongside AHDB and sponsored by Carrs Billington, the day will also include talks from Plumgarths, the successful farm shop started more than 20 years ago by NSA Vice President John Geldard.
Timetable for the day:
10:30am Arrival and registration – tea and coffee
10:35am Welcome and introduction to NSA
11:10 -11:25am Plumgarths farm shop - intro into how they diversified at Plumgarths over 20 years ago and how the business model looks now.
11:25am-12pm Plumgarths farm shop – butchery demo, showing how to add value to a carcass.
12:05-12:40pm AHDB – Consumer insights, what consumers are looking for. What they are doing to promote red meat along and promoting the route to market with the Love Lamb Ambassadors.
12:40-1:30pm Break for lunch
1:35pm-2:10pm AHDB including influencer Rebecca Wilson – Making the most of your business with the power of social media.
2:15pm-3pm Vicky Slater & Kevin Holiday talking about their holiday pod let business and on farm classroom for primary schools.
3pm Final comments and more ways to get involved with NSA, including the NSA Next Generation programme.
3:15pm Departure.
