Poor abattoir practices undo the hard work of UK sheep farmers

3rd February 2015

NSA is shocked and appalled by the events uncovered at Bowood Lamb in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The treatment of animals in this way is not acceptable and reflects poorly on hard working sheep farmers who maintain high health and welfare standards throughout an animal’s lifetime on farm. The activity at Bowood does not represent the practices in the majority of UK meat processing plants and NSA hopes severe action is taken in this case to stop the poor practice of a tiny minority from tarring the reputation of what is otherwise a world-class food supply chain.
