15th February 2022

NSA is closely monitoring the information available in relation to the maedi visna (MV) status of sheep flocks in Northern Ireland. Officials are working closely with all stakeholders to identify the next steps, which will be informed by the ongoing epidemiological investigation.

A statement from the Northern Ireland CVO Robert Huey, has been made today, Wednesday 16th February 2022, and as it currently stands, the need for change is not anticipated in the way sheep from Northern Ireland are considered in relation to the risk of introducing MV infection.
