NSA Sheep Event focussed on the sector’s positive future

9th February 2022

The National Sheep Association’s (NSA) flagship event, NSA Sheep 2022, will return to the Three Counties Showground, Worcestershire this July and will be firmly focussed on looking towards a positive future for the UK sheep industry.

Taking place for the first time since 2018, the biennial event, that was unfortunately cancelled in 2020 due to covid-19, is firmly established as the leading technical sheep event in the UK. It provides visitors with the unique opportunity to view the latest innovations in the sector, hear from leading experts and influential figures, and browse the numerous sheep specific trade stands.

NSA is looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the event on Wednesday 27th July 2022. Phil Stocker, NSA Chief Executive, comments: “Having so greatly missed the chance to meet up with NSA members and the wider sheep sector at face-to-face events for the past two years all at NSA are excited to be bringing together plans for the event this summer.

We are confident NSA Sheep 2022 will return with a bang providing knowledge and information for producers to fine-tune their businesses. This will be the first event since
the UK’s departure from Europe, a move that has meant significant change for many sheep farming businesses. We are now in a position to look forward with assurance that the future for the UK sheep farmer can be a bright one and we hope that NSA Sheep 2022 will provide a good opportunity for sheep farmers to come together to discuss this in depth, our excellent line up of informative seminars will provide the perfect platform for this.”

The 2022 seminar line up will debate varied topical issues such as future market opportunities, sheep farming’s social relevance and how the sheep farm’s grasslands can be a salvation for carbon capture and nature recovery. A full programme of seminars can be found on the NSA Sheep Event website.

Entry to the event is free for NSA members. Alternatively, advance tickets, priced at £16 each, will soon be available to buy online. More details will be made available on this soon.

As in previous years, NSA will also be running farm tours the day before the event on Tuesday 26th July 2022, which will include visits to two forward-thinking sheep farms. In addition, the popular NSA Sheep Event dinner will take place on the evening before the event celebrating the coming together of the nation’s sheep farmers.

NSA Chairman and Chairman of NSA Sheep Event 2022, Dan Phipps, adds:
It is with immense pleasure that we look forward to welcoming old and new faces back to the Sheep Event at The Three Counties Showground this year. With a four year gap between events, Brexit, a pandemic, the positive up-turn on lamb price, and all the proposed changes to farm support around environmental concerns there is a huge amount going on.

"It is my opinion that there is no better event to demonstrate and celebrate all that is great about our industry. The part we play in rural communities our knowledge of the environment we farm in. We should also celebrate the part we play in making the countryside attractive to millions whilst producing wool and lamb of the highest quality. It is an opportunity to come together - be it to hear some of the great speakers we have lined up to impart their knowledge and wisdom, or to make your way around the Trade and Breed society stands, catch up with old acquaintances or make new ones. It is a day for anyone with an interest in Sheep - from die hard Shepherds to those who think they like the idea of keeping sheep. Be they old or young, we aim to cater for all.

"There is always that anticipation around who you might meet, what you might learn. You may even discover that piece of knowledge or equipment you didn’t even realise you were missing that could transform your thinking and business! We look forward to seeing you there."

Applications for exhibitor and breed society trade stand space are still open and can be completed at www.sheepevent.org.uk. There is also chance to enter online to take part in one of the numerous competitions that will take place at the event, including fencing and a new, exciting inventions competition.
