YOUNG SHEPHERD HEADS TO PARIS TO REPRESENT SCOTLAND

Representing Scotland in the European Section of the French Young Shepherds Competition 2018 at Paris International Agricultural Show on Saturday February, 24 will be 20-year-old Farquhar Renwick from Inverbroom near Ullapool who qualified through last year’s NSA Highlandsheep event held at Kinnahaird Farm, Contin. His trip to Paris is sponsored by NSA Scotland & Randall Parker Foods. 

Farquhar works with his father, Scott at the 20,000-acre Inverbroom Estate, which carries a flock of hill-type NCC ewes and a herd of pure-bred Luing cows. As well as his shepherding duties, Farquhar works on SNH peatland restoration and protection in Wester Ross.

The Young Shepherd competitors will tackle a variety of practical tasks, such as foot trimming and condition scoring as well as being tested on their theoretical knowledge of sheep.
