NSA Northern Region - Annual Members Meeting

Date: 13th February 2018

Time: 7.30pm

Location: Tynedale Function Suite, Hexham Mart, NE46 3SG

NSA Northern Region held its Annual Regional Members Meeting (ARMM) at a chilly Hexham Mart on Tuesday 13th February.

The formal business saw Eddie Eastham re-elected as Regional Chairman with all other regional roles remaining the same.

Each year, a highlight of this meeting is the presentation of the TI Allinson Memorial Award for outstanding contribution to the sheep industry in the North. The award was deservedly won this year by Alan Alderson, Barras Farm, Kirkby Stephen, having been nominated via the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association.

NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker reports: “It was pleasing to join a good turnout at this meeting to which I was able to give an update on Brexit and overview of discussions on the future of sheep traceability and the Livestock Information programme. Thanks go to speakers NSA Next generation Ambassador Thomas Vickers who gave an excellent presentation on his experiences on the Next Generation programme and also Adam Day, Managing Director of the Farmers Network and freelance auctioneer. Adam gave an entertaining talk on his career before explaining the work of the Farmers Network – an organisation the NSA is delighted to work closely with.”
