Thame Farmers Market Breeding Ewe Sale incorporating the NSA South East Region Ram Sale

The inaugural NSA South East Region Ram Sale was held in conjunction with the Thame Farmers Auction Mart annual 2nd Breeding Sheep Fair Friday 2nd September.

NSA South East Regional Ram Sale Chairman, James Goffin comments: "A lively atmosphere turned into lively bidding at the inaugural South East Region Ram Sale at Thame farmers market on September 2nd. With almost all rams forward that had been entered the bids came thick and fast, buyers spirits not dampened by the morning drizzle. As ram sale committee chairman on behalf of the committee I would like to express my thanks to Simon Draper and the staff at Thame who looked after us extremely well, to all the vendors who travelled across many counties to be apart of this sale and to everyone who purchased rams. Special thanks to our team of inspectors, Harry Bishop, Joe Hope and Les Morris and the committee send their best wishes and hope to see you all again at next years South East Region ram sale."

81 Shearling & Ram Lambs were offered to a packed ring of potential buyers, 62 rams found homes to average £498.00.

Suffolk shearlings met strong demand topping at £900.00 for an April born shearling from Russo Suffolks, Norbury. Mr M Legg who came over from the Isle of Wight took £720.00 along with Diana Linton of Dorking. M/s MJ & JA Pinny sold their run of ram lambs at £380.00.

Texel Shearlings topped the sale at £960.00 from local breeders M & L Blakemore who sold others to £750.00 followed by R & B Smith at £740.00 and £700.00. 

Holton Mill Farm, another local producer topped at £500.00 for their Lleyns.

Charollais shearlings sold to £740.00 and £700.00 from C W Thomas, Wolston who sold ram lambs to £400.00. Ram Lambs topped at £500.00 for Charollais from Weeksland Charollais, Biddenden who also sold to £460.00 & £420.00.
